New studies reveal that olive oil contributes to better brain health and could even reduce the risk of dementia
Olive oil fans are once again right about loving it so fanatically. Not only because using olive oil makes your dishes taste better, apparently it also benefits your brain health. There are studies now that put this on paper, from various universities and research institutions such as Harvard and the University of Urbana-Champaign.
All studies have one great thing in common: Brain protection goes through good fat, namely olive oil.
How does olive oil help your brain?
“Fatty acids” within olive oil is said to be the main reason behind the nutrition it provides to the brain. It basically impacts the pathways in your brain positively. The better these “paths” are nourished by the good fatty acids in olive oil, the better your neural network is connected.
Research also exists to study the relationship between dementia and olive oil. Since it is already established that olive oil is good for the brain, it is stated that there is a reduced risk of dementia for people who consume olive oil daily. This is not only due to the good fatty acids in olive oil, but also thanks to its antioxidant content. This benefits your neural network even further. All good things come in moderation, and you should pay attention to the daily doses of olive oil you’re taking in. The biggest point to keep in mind is, the “extra virgin” olive oil is the way to go. Aside from that, the recommended dose is 2–5 tablespoons a day. If you can’t have enough in your food, consider taking a smooth shot in the morning.
