Festive spiced hot chocolate

Step 1/3
- ¼ orange
- 1½ star anise
- 1 cinnamon sticks

Use a vegetable peeler to peel 2 large pieces of zest from the orange. Use a paring knife to remove any white pith. Add orange zest, star anise, and cinnamon to a piece of cheesecloth and secure with kitchen twine.

- 400 ml whole milk

Add milk to a pot and bring to a simmer over medium low heat, stirring often. Add spices and let simmer for approx. 5 min. Remove from heat and let steep for approx. 20 min.
Step 3/3
- 100 g bittersweet chocolate chips
- whipped cream (for serving)
- whisk
Remove spices and transfer milk back to medium low heat. Add chocolate chips and whisk until chocolate is melted and well combined. Serve immediately with whipped cream, if desired, and enjoy!
