bitter beans / petai
4 tbsp
sambal oelek
2 tsp
shrimp relish
2 tbsp
unsalted butter
2 tbsp
sweet soy sauce
2 tsp
light soy sauce
4 cloves
shallots
water
salt (for marinating)
white pepper (for marinating)

  • Step 1/4

    • 20 shrimp
    • salt (for marinating)
    • white pepper (for marinating)

    Remove the shells of the shrimp, wash it then coat it with white pepper and salt. Set aside.

  • Step 2/4

    • 20 bitter beans / petai
    • water

    Boil the water and put bitter beans for about 8 minutes to remove the odour and get soften.

  • Step 3/4

    • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
    • 4 cloves shallots
    • frying pan

    Put the frying pan over medium heat. Add butter and shallot. Stir for 2 minutes until fragrant. Then add the shrimp. Cook for 5 minutes until the shrimp change its colour to orange.

  • Step 4/4

    • 4 tbsp sambal oelek
    • 2 tsp shrimp relish
    • 2 tbsp sweet soy sauce
    • 2 tsp light soy sauce

    Add sweet soy sauce, light soy sauce, sambal oelek, shrimp relish. Stir until everything is evenly coated. Let it cooked for 5 minutes. DONE! Serve this with warm rice. Enjoy 🤗
