A milky healthkick
Most of us know Kefir as the yogurt-drink most Kebab shops sell. There is way more to it though! It originally came from Russia and is made up of milk and bacteria. Kefir gets its slight fizz and thicker texture through a fermentation process of up to 2 days. Kefir is very healthy and is said to be healing for the gut and aiding digestion.
Start fermenting
- 1 tbsp Kefir grains
- ½ l long-life milk
- plastic spoon
- plastic sieve
- 2 jars (1l/4.2 cup)
To make Kefir yourself add Kefir grains and milk to jar and stir with plastic spoon. Leave in a dark and warm place for approx. 24 - 48 hrs., then shake gently, strain through plastic sieve into clean jar and serve immediately or keep in the fridge for 2 - 3 days. Enjoy!
Cheers!
