It’s easy in principle—prep a few ingredients or even full meals in advance, and you’ll stay well-fed all week and save money in the process. In practice, it’s harder. I know, because I’m bad at it. Give me a to-do list and a deadline, and I’m your girl. But bet on me to pack lunch to feed myself while getting it done, and let’s just say, the odds are not in your favor.  

Luckily, I work with a lot of people who excel at this type of at-home self-organization—so they’ll be sharing their secrets to success this month, and I’ll be taking notes. We’ll have a look at the recipes and methods that make prepping ahead easier and share our tips for the best (and most sustainable) ways to pack up food for on-the-go. Maybe by September, their knack for prepping ahead will rub off on me.

A sneak peak of what’s to come

Whether you’re on the road for a summer vacation or sticking it out in the heat at home, there’s plenty to benefit from this month. From travel snacks (that also translate well at work), to better sandwiches, to composing the perfect lunch box, we’re not short on ways to infuse new flavors and techniques into your routine. We’ll also have a look at how to adopt more sustainable practices in our meal prep, from the ways we store our food to how, and what, we consume and waste.
