Our favorite vegetable!
Broccoli is a true superfood: Rich in vitamin C, iron, calcium, and magnesium, it contains all necessary components for a strong immune system. It is also proven to have antioxidant properties and anti-carcinogenic effects. Enjoy your broccoli raw in salads, blanched as a side dish, blended in a creamy soup, or gratinated in a casserole—in the video, we show you how to cut it.
Tips and tricks
Look for broccoli with a deep green or blue-green color. It should be stored in a dark and cool place to prevent it from blooming. Before cooking the broccoli, soak it in salted water for approx. 15 min. in order to wash out little insects and other contaminations from the leaves. When preparing the broccoli, it is best to cook it gently, since many of its vitamins are sensitive to heat and may be destroyed when overcooked. Many people don’t know that even the stem is edible—simply cut it into small pieces so that it will cook evenly along with the florets.
